Petition for Recognition of the Arts-City of Tucson

Tucson Pima Arts Council
has a call out to sign a Petition for Recognition of the Arts in the City of Tucson Charter.

Go to this link to read all about this charter change and the impact of the arts on the Old Pueblo:
http://www.tucsonpimaartscouncil.org/event/petition-recognition-arts-city-charter/

You can add your electronic signature here:  Sign Petition HERE  (deadline Jan. 22).

The petition has specific places to amend the charter and summarizes with these words:
We seek this inclusion because a vibrant community of artists, arts and culture organizations, and arts consumers has long been central to Tucson’s identity and national reputation as an arts-centric city, and is essential to economic development, educational achievement, and a high quality of life for its residents and visitors.

Yes!  I signed. How about you?

For Our Children:

Santa Fe Ranch Foundation: Announcement and Call to Artists:

From the Santa Fe Foundation website:

“The Santa Fe Ranch Foundation and the Santa Cruz Nature and Heritage Festival are joining together in promoting a juried art exhibit “WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE; NATURE AND HERITAGE ARIZONA”.   Opening reception will be held at the stunning Sedgwick Hacienda, Nogales Arizona on Thursday, April 16th with live music provided by The Santa Cruz Foundation for the Performing Arts.  Following the opening, the art show will be moved to the nearby Americana Hotel Lobby which is also the site for the Festival.  Proceeds from the exhibit will benefit the out-of-doors education for local school children including the sciences, the arts, agriculture, history and nature.”

To get the prospectus, go to http://www.santaferanchfoundation.org/ and this is also listed on our Calls for Entries page.

As a mother and citizen of Planet Earth, I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to unplug your kids and grandkids from video games, tv shows, smart phones, and tablets and GO Outside!  This is a good chance to support a worthy cause for some southern Arizona kids who want to have fun and learn more about the natural world.
